codforever privacy policy

Summary

01

Browsing needs no account.

No cookies and no ads. We count visits without cookies (Umami). Your filters and favourites stay in your browser.

02

Signing in is optional.

With Discord. We keep your Discord id, username, display name and avatar, and what you add yourself.

03

Buddies see only what you share.

Your in-game names and the last server you were on, never a history. Sharing can be switched off.

04

Delete it all, any time.

"Delete my account" removes everything we hold about you, straight away.

01

Stored in your browser

These stay on your device, in the browser's storage for codforever.com. We can't see them.

StoredWhy
Filters, sort order and picked gamesSo the list looks the way you left it
Favourite serversThe Favourites filter
Your sign-in sessionStaying signed in (only if you sign in)
A buddy link you openedAdding that buddy once you've signed in; removed straight after

Signing out ends the session; clearing the site's data in your browser removes the rest.

02

Your account

Only if you sign in with Discord. Stored in our database (Supabase, in the EU):

StoredWhy
Discord id, username, display name, avatarYour profile; buddies find you by username
Your buddy codeThe buddy link you can share
Buddies and buddy requestsYour buddy list
In-game names you add (up to 5)Spotting you on servers, for your buddies
The last server you were seen on or joinedShowing your buddies where you play; only the latest, replaced each time
Invites you send or receiveShown for an hour, deleted after a week
When you pressed RefreshFair-use limits; kept for 2 days

Your in-game names and where you play are visible only to buddies you've accepted, and where you play only while "Show my buddies where I play" is on. Turning it off deletes it.

Sharing off removes where you play
Remove a name or buddy deletes it
Delete my account removes everything above
03

Where you are

To estimate your ping to each server, the website asks its host for your approximate location (city level), worked out from your connection. It's used in your browser and not stored.

The optional codforever app for your PC looks up your public IP's location with ip-api.com instead, for the same purpose. The app also reads which Call of Duty games you have installed and your CoD2x version, and measures pings from your PC; none of that leaves your PC.

04

Game servers

Our scanner reads what game servers publish to everyone: their settings, map and mode, and the names, scores and pings of the players on them. We keep only the latest snapshot of each server, not a history of who played where.

A player name is linked to an account only if that player adds it.

And then it's shown only to their accepted buddies.

05

Services we use

ServiceWhat for
SupabaseThe database and sign-in (EU region)
NetlifyHosting the website, and your approximate location for pings
DiscordSign-in, only when you choose it
Google Fonts, flagcdn.com, jsDelivrFonts, country flags and the sign-in library, loaded by your browser from their servers
DB-IPA database of where game servers are, used on our scanner; no visitor data
UmamiVisit statistics: which pages are viewed and which buttons are used

Umami counts visits without cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records the page, the referring site, your browser, device type and rough location, and what was used (Join, Refresh, a filter), never your account, names or what you search for. Your IP address is used briefly to work out the location and an anonymous visitor count, and isn't kept in the statistics. With Do Not Track on in your browser, nothing is sent.

Those services operate under their own privacy policies. Each one your browser contacts sees your IP address, as with any website.

06

What we do not do

✕Sell data, or share it for advertising or anything unrelated to finding a game.
✕Use cookies, tracking pixels or ad networks, or follow you across other websites.
✕Keep a history of where you played.
✕Show your account to anyone but the buddies you accept.

Children

codforever is a server browser for games rated for older players and is not directed at children.
